Claxton-Hepburn Co-Sponsors Walking Trail with AHA
Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center is pleased to have worked with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and the City of Ogdensburg to create a walking trail that will connect the hospital to the Maple City Trail.
The trail will be marked with signs carrying the logo of both the AHA/ASA and Claxton-Hepburn. The new walking trail not only provides additional opportunities for residents to be physically active but also further supports the hospital’s goal to encourage health and wellness activities for its employees. In addition to the walking trail, Claxton-Hepburn has also committed to sponsor two exercise stations along the Maple City Trail. The first one will be placed this year in the New York Avenue Park at the corners of Ford and Rensselaer Avenues.
The collaboration with AHA began in April when Claxton-Hepburn participated as a corporate sponsor for the 2016 North Country Heart Walk held on the campus of Jefferson Community College. Nearly 35 employees, doctors, and hospital senior leadership represented Claxton-Hepburn and joined nearly 50 other companies and more than 1,200 people who turned out to support the American Heart Association. Each Claxton-Hepburn walker was asked to set a minimum fundraising goal of $25. Along with its corporate sponsorship of the walk, Claxton-Hepburn and employees raised nearly $7,000 for the 2016 North Country Heart Walk.
A ribbon-cutting event was held October 13 at the corners of Ford and Rensselaer Avenues. Refreshments were served. The public was invited to attend and two Fitbits were given away.
